Wishing you a magical day....

Hi Everyone,

This week I decided to take a break from making Christmas cards and tags and spent some time with the beautiful Lavinia Stamps range.

I love these silhouette stamps, they are so striking and give me an opportunity to play with making my own backgrounds.

To start I took a woodgrain embossed card base and die cut my aperture.

Then I used three Distress Paints (Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey and Picket Fence) and dabbed these onto a piece of watercolour paper. I spritzed it heavily with water to allow the paint to move and blend.

Once the paint was dry I overstamped with the Lavinia Stamps Thistles stamp set in black Versafine ink and mounted my picture behind the aperture in the card base.

For my sentiment I used "Wishing you a magical day" from the Crimson Cloud Sleeping Flower Fairy stamp set

and stamped it onto a die cut banner and mounted it with foam pads onto the card front.

Finally I decorated the card with some coordinating gems from my stash.

Hope you like it!

Fairy love and wishes......

Good morning!

We have some more fairy-inspired samples today from our lovely Design Team today.

Sandra kicks us off with another one of her fantastic dimensional projects

made using the Sitting Fairy stamp set

Cheremane has very cleverly used the sunflower from the Sleeping Flower Fairy stamp set

to create a background to compliment her focal image

Debs has used an unusual colour palette to create her elegant Fairy card

using the Fairy Picking Flowers stamp set

Linda was obviously feeling very inspired as she came up with two designs for the Fairy In The Moonlight stamp set

Her first card would work well as a Spring or even Valentine's card

And you can tell she is in Christmas mode with this very clever Christmas card

which also incorporates the Crimson Cloud Pine Boughs and Fir Cones stamp set

I hope you enjoy these samples and are inspired to use your fairies in new ways!

I had fun creating a single layer scene card

Dabbling in Distress Paints.....

The new range of Tim Holtz Distress Paints have arrived at Crimson Cloud and we have been dabbling with them all day. These are no ordinary acrylic paints! Not only do they blend beautifully when wet, when they are dry they stay put. Which means you can put layer after layer on until you are happy with your result.

I put together a couple of projects today using the Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar distress paints.

And here are the two projects -

I took a piece of heavy weight cardstock and dabbed the colours on - making sure I used the lightest colour first. I then spritzed the card heavily with water (you could use a pearly mica spray here) and moved the card around so that the paint spread and blended. I used my heat tool to dry the paint, and then dabbed any excess wet paint from my craft mat onto the painted card to add texture and interest.

I cut the cardstock in half to create two panels for my two cards.

For the Dreams card, I embossed my panel with the Sizzix Birds and Lace embossing folder

and sanded the embossed impression to reveal the birds and flowers. The sentiment came from the Creative Expressions Birds stamp set

To create my second card, I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the Creative Expressions Bark embossing folder

I used one of the brand new Couture Creations Ivy Doilies and die cut it from my second panel of painted cardstock

The sentiment comes from the exclusive Crimson Cloud Sitting Fairy stamp set

I am now off to clean up the paint splatters from all over my craft room - even my lap top keyboard has some suspiciously pink fingerprints on it!
