Free and Easy!

This week I have been working on my submission to the Allsorts Challenge Blog - the theme was Free and Easy.

I decided to adopt a musical theme in my card:
The silhouette stamps are from Clarity Stamp -
Violinist:

I stamped the sentiment from the Just Rite Forever Friends stamp set

I stamped the frame twice (once with the sentiment, and once on its own). I cut out the frame and mounted it on foam pads to add dimension.

The main topper was then die cut and layered using Spellbinders Grand Ovals and Grand Scalloped Ovals . I inked around the edges with some Distress Ink (Spun Sugar).

I cut two tags out and then cut them in half and used them to embellish the side of the scalloped oval.

I cut the layered tassels to embellish the right hand side of the scalloped oval using Spellbinders Banners One

These tassels give the card a very luxurious feel.

The background coredinations card was embossed using the new Couture Creations Adagio embossing folder
As it is a large background, I put it through the Grand Calibur twice, taking care not to overlap the pattern on the second run through.

Once the card was matted and layered, I embellished with some black Vintage Ribbon,
a spare die cut tassel and a "waste" heart from the Fancy Tag.

The card was finished off with a gem swirl which I trimmed to fit.

I hope you like it!

Elegant Evening Dress

This very elegant evening dress came about as a result of trying to design a birthday card for my daughter which would surprise her.

Running Crimson Cloud means she knows most of the tricks and all the products of the trade. So, a wee bit of a challenge!
But not to be put off I designed an SVG of a very simple evening gown on a hanger (this is our free svg of the month) -

This I covered in our little Crimson Cloud roses of the same colour -

Trimming a few of the roses to keep the hour glass shape! A little flattery goes a long way!

Having finished ‘the dress’ I needed something to hang it on and created another SVG of the Cheval mirror frame and glass -

The frame was easy just to cut out of a nice ‘woody’ colour, trim with a few cut out embellishments to create an illusion of carving.
The actual mirror is cut from a metal craft sheet the reverse of which is shiny!! Double sided sticky paper is the easiest way to attach it convincingly to the frame.
The tiny little high heels each with a scaled down rose to match came from Cricut American Alphabet which fortunately for me came ready loaded on my new Cricut Machine.
Melanie was whisked off to Venice for a surprise birthday treat from her husband where she would have looked totally in style stepping off of a gondola in this lovely evening dress. But, unfortunately it was freezing and she had to settle for a woolly beanie hat, gloves and boots, more Benny from Crossroads than Angelina Jolie from The Tourist!!!!

You Make My Heart Flutter!

This week I have been working on my submission for the CRAFT Colour Combo challenge.
I found this colour scheme quite a challenge as it is not a pallet I would usually use - which makes it all the more fun!

Here is the card I submitted:
I used the carriage silhouette stamp from Clarity
mounted onto a Spellbinders Labels Fourteen die cut
and layered onto two Heart Squares dies set at an angle:
I used the Adagio embossing folder for the background:
The sentiment is from the Creative Expressions Thoughtful Sentiments stamp set:

and has been die cut using Fancy Tags Two

I cut some of the flourishes off the tag to fit it onto the card.
The card is embellished using Spellbinders Foliage
and Rose Creations

When matting and layering the card, I rolled back the cerise layer to reveal the orange colour on the reverse. I glued the rolled paper into place using Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue - although you do need to hold it in place for a minute or two to ensure that the rolls don't unfold!

The corners of the card are decorated with gems

And not a ribbon in sight!!
I hope you like it!
