Keep It Simple Stupid!!

This week's challenge to myself was to design a card - keeping it as simple as possible! Not the easiest thing as I do like to embellish my cards with ribbons, gems and hat pins.

As I was in a  momentary festive mood, I thought I would try my first Christmas card of the year.

I stamped out Penny Black's "Mystical" stag
Underneath the stamped image, I sprinkled some Cosmic Shimmer Persian Sea embossing powder (without using any clear embossing ink). Over the top of the embossing powder, I sprinkled a few gems, ice chips and gilding flakes.

Then - very carefully!! - I lifted the card up, making sure it stayed flat, and heated from underneath. The embossing powder melts, clings to the card and pulls in the extra gems and flakes.

Once it had cooled, I dotted some glitter glue to highlight the antlers, then doodled around the edge of the card.

I think that the decadent amount of embossing powder, gilding flakes and ice chips manages to satisfy my need for bling on a card!!

Only 49 more Christmas cards to go ;-)

Celebrations

This week we are sponsoring Trimmies Craft Challenge. The theme is "Celebrations" and I decided to go with the wedding celebration theme.

I am a huge fan of Penny Black stamps - especially this one “Pinnacle”

I cut out some flowers from some patterned paper and embossed the background with another of my favourites - the Couture Creations Walrus and Carpenter embossing folder.

Eggshell vintage ribbon gave me the opportunity to create a colour match with Copic Pens.
When ‘stuck’ for sentiments try printing them out in Word as I did and then just cut them out!
The little leaf punch is from my own private collection but of course you can use which ever you have to hand.

Crimson Cloud Miniature Roses

finished off the bow and project perfectly as they can also be colour matched.
My feeling is that the result is fresh, contemporary and young as most of us were when we married!
Enjoy!

The Happy Couple

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I made this card for the Gallery of the February edition of Craft Stamper - which is out now.

To create this card, stamp image using Penny Black's Bride and Groom

and die cut with Spellbinders Heart Squares:

Create a “faux nestie” to back onto your image by drawing around the die and cutting out.

Stamp the image again onto patterned papers. Cut out the bride's dress and the groom's suit and attach to the original stamped image. Colour the remaining parts of the image.

To create a patchwork background, cut three sheets of patterned paper into 1 inch strips. Attach these side by side lengthways onto an A4 adhesive sheet. Turn the sheet 90 degrees and cut into one inch strips - so each strip has a column of 1 inch squares. Peel of the backing of the adhesive and stick the strips onto a piece of card. You can adjust the position of the strips to create a pattern you like.

Decorate with bow created using Creative Expressions Red Wrinkled Edge Ribbon,

Creative Expressions Crystal Hat Pins,

and button made using a Martha Stewart Embossed Button Punch

punched from patterned paper.

Matt and layer your image.

Die cut another Heart Square from red card, cut into 4 to create corner accents. Use the “waste” hearts to decorate the edges of the card.

For a final decorative edge, use CosmicShimmer Teal Sky Pearly PVA Glue

 to make faux pearls.

Why not try making a patchwork sheet to give a new look to your projects?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone - hope you have recovered from the festivities!
This week we are sponsoring the Penny Black at Allsorts challenge.
The theme is Love and Hearts.
Here is our submission:

I decoupaged the main image - the beautiful Penny Black "Love is the Message" stamp

I matted the image onto a die cut layer using Spellbinders Nestabilities Heart Squares
I threaded some Vintage Ribbon around the edges:
The flourishes were die cut using Spellbinders Bird Flourishes:

They were cut from the Creative Expressions Foundations Paper range:

I layered my topper onto white card which was embossed using one of the new Couture Creations embossing folders - Vintage Plumes:

I stamped a sentiment and die cut it using Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three:

I hope you like it!

The last Christmas card

Hi -
Hope you are all ready and raring to go for Christmas :-)
This is my final Christmas card for 2011.
I actually made it for the CRAFT Challenge blog - the theme was Christmas Presents.
I used the Here Comes Christmas cling stamp by Penny Black

and coloured it in using Copics.
To mat and layer the card, I used various Spellbinders dies:
Wonky Rectangles

I created the faux pearl accents using the Creative Expressions Cosmic Shimmer Dark Bronze Pearly Glue
After adding a sentiment, and dotting around the edges with a white pen, I added a Crimson Cloud handmade paper rose (these are currently on sale!)

Hope you like it!

Christmas Roses

We currently have our paper roses packs at an introductory price of £1.40 per pack until 30th September. They are available in a wide range of colours and in 4 sizes - from large to extra small.
I made the card above using one of the large roses.

I used the Spellbinders "Holiday Tags" to create the leaves. I also used another shape from the Holiday Tags for the greeting.

The lovely hedgehogs stamp is Penny Black "Here Comes Christmas".
I have mounted the coloured image onto Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Twenty Three

And layered onto Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles:

We have all the products shown here currently in stock.
We hope you have fun with the roses!

Madame Noel

Hi,
I love this funky stamp from Penny Black and decided to use her to make a Christmas card in non-Christmassy colours.
To create the snowflake background, I used the Snowflake Layer svg file - cutting it out from black card on my cricut. I layered the card onto pink pearlised card which makes the snowflakes really pop!
I stamped her on white card and coloured her with Promarkers. I stamped her again on the pink card and cut out her hat and dress.
She is matted and layered using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Twenty.
To give her a bit more glamour, I used some Creative Expressions ribbon behind the sentiment which is die cut using Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two.
The flowers around the frame were cut from Creative Expressions Sheer Woven Rosettes ribbon and embellished with crystal hat pins from our embellishments range.
Hope you like her!

Penny Black Christmas Star

The theme to this week's Penny Black Saturday Challenge was "Stars".
I wanted to use the Penny Black snow globe stamp (Sending Love) as I think this stamp is so versatile and can be used for so many styles. I used stamps from the "Jolly Friends" clear stamp set to create my scene in the globe. To create the glassy effect of the globe, I used crystal transparent embossing powder to triple emboss. Some ribbon, some star embossed and patterned paper and a star tag and the card was complete. Hope you like it! xxx Pin It Now!

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

I decided to try my hand at some paper piecing for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The challenge was to use a Penny Black stamp and a banner somewhere on the card. I used the Penny Black La Soiree stamp. Once I had stamped the image onto white card, I also stamped it onto coordinating patterned paper and cut it out to make her dress, handbag and balloons.
I used the Spellbinders Banner Basics to cut the patterned banner and glued the banner onto embroidery thread. I cut an aperture in the card and a frame from patterned paper using Grand Nestabilities to give the card some depth.
To finish the card off I stamped and cut out the sentiment and used some gems to decorate the banner.
I had great fun making this card and really like the girly pink colour scheme.
