Bells, Boughs and Bows

This week Linda has been getting in the Christmas spirit and playing with three of the Crimson Cloud Christmas stamp sets.

For her first card she has chosen a lovely colour palette of pale blues and browns - very unusual!

She has combined the Pine Bough and Fir Cones stamp set

with the Noel Bells stamp set

She has stamped a subtle background with the pine boughs, and the fir cones look so striking stamped in brown.

For her second card, she has created an very elegant wreath

by stamping and embossing it in white, and combining it with the wreath bow stamped and embossed in silver. To add that extra bling, she has replaced the berries with silver beads.

We hope you like and are inspired by this week's samples.

Best wishes

Hi Folks,
We have had a great week playing with the new Christmas stamp sets and have created some fun samples!

This four-step stamping card was made using the Holly Wreath and Bow stamp set

Holly Wreath and Bow set

This beautiful card was made using the Mistletoe stamp set

This cozy tartan card was created with the Pine Boughs and Fir Cones stamp set - great for building backgrounds.

And finally this card was made in very non-traditional colours using the Noel Bells stamp set

Keep an eye out for more inspiration coming from our design team next week.

Best wishes

The Noel Bells stamp set includes a two step bell - stamp the out line bell in one colour, and the solid bell in another. Fantastic for the "kiss" stamping technique!

Mid Winter Festival

This card brings to mind a more of a mid-winter festival, rather than a traditional Christmas card.

To make this card you will need:

Crimson Cloud Language Background Stamp

Grand Nestabilities Large Labels

Spellbinders Cherry Blossoms

Spellbinders Fall Foliage

Creative Expressions Cream Pearl Hat Pins

Cosmic Shimmer Glue

Cosmic Shimmer Embossing Powder- Lapis Black

Glitter glue
A piece of your favourite ribbon – optional
Mounting Tape
Silicone Glue

Here’s how:
Take half an A4 sheet of dark green card stock and cut an aperture with the size three Grand Nesties Large Labels die.

Cut another half of A4 in a contrasting green with the size 4 Large Labels die.

Fix one to the other and these form your ‘mount and frame’.

Stamp out the Languages Background Stamp with Versamark and emboss with the Lapis Black.

Take a new sheet of A4 Card stock in the dark green and fold in half. Centre your Language Background and fix to the backing card. Then use mounting tape to attach and centre your ‘Mount & Frame’ over the language backing.

Now you can play!

Cut out as many of the ‘Fir’ branches as you would like from the Fall Foliage dies. I used a whole sheet of A4 to make it abundant, then die cut some pine cones and acorns.

The twigs were cut from the Cherry Blossoms dies.

I had a piece of holly ribbon in my stash which I glued around and under the frame with Cosmic Shimmer Glue. You could use red or tartan if at all; it looks just as pretty without!

Decide on your lay out and fix with the glue. I used silicone inside the pine cones to give them some relief.

Lift the whole thing with some glitter glue and finally get out your hat pins.

I am very pleased with the result and I hope you will be too.

A letter from Santa

Children love to write letters to Santa at this time of year, but as a twist we have designed a stamp which is a note from Santa.

Using the Crimson Cloud Christmas Tree SVG which is free this month, cut out 2 trees. The first is 3.600”w x 3.800”h and the second 3.85”w x 4.050”h.

Then using the Crimson Cloud Script Trees Stamps

and either Dew Drop memento ink pads or Tim Holtz distress ink pens, ink up your stamp. If you use the Dew Drop pads use a piece of card to protect the line of the sentiment below the one you are stamping.

Stamp this onto your smallest tree and then colour the backing tree and mount one to the other.

Cut a square 6.25” x 6.25” from white card stock and layer up with ever increasing squares die cut using Grand Nesties Squares.

Edge each square with a different coloured line around  to co-ordinate with your choice of colours.

Glue your trees to the centre and start to play with some matching gem stones.

Mount your topper onto a colour coordinated card blank.

Stamp out the Merry Christmas Sentiment and attach to a banner of your choice which you can colour the same as the larger tree. Mount up, more gem stones and away you go.

I hope you enjoy this cute card.

Layers Challenge

This week we have entered the Allsorts blog challenge - the theme was "Layers"

This cute little card was made with my daughter in mind, and all Mother and Daughters separated at Christmas time.

I cut three of squares in decreasing sizes using the Spellbinders Grand Squares.

Having folded all the squares in half to create triangles I set about blending one of the squares with Tim Holtz Dried Marigold Distress Ink and edged the reverse side.

The card stock I used is textured so it gave a nice uneven look to it.

I cut three more small squares (about 2 inches wide) and blended them with ink on the reverse and sides.

Using the tree from Crimson Cloud Script Trees Stamp Set

and the Dried Marigold ink I stamped the top half of the third largest square which you see standing up.

The three largest squares were layered together to create the card base.

Using the sentiments from the same stamp set I stamped “WITH LOVE – FROM FAR AWAY” on one of the 2 inch squares and attached the point of the triangle - making sure only to glue the bottom half.

The other two 2 inch folded squares were attached behind the greeting. I created some little parcels from card stock and tied them with string (tip: for the sake of your sanity, fix down with a sticky dot whilst you do this!).  The parcels were arranged and attached to the upright backs of the orange squares.

Along the crease, to increase the 3D effect I cut out a strip from Edgeabilities laid and glued behind the parcels.

On the outside of the card, I punched and attached a decorative border and embellished with gems.

With another sentiment from the set I stamped a tag with “Darling Daughter” once again with Dried Marigold and tied with more string – done!

My Darling Daughter unfortunately cannot have this little card now as she will have seen it!!
But I hope the rest of you enjoy it?

Penny Black Christmas Star

The theme to this week's Penny Black Saturday Challenge was "Stars".
I wanted to use the Penny Black snow globe stamp (Sending Love) as I think this stamp is so versatile and can be used for so many styles. I used stamps from the "Jolly Friends" clear stamp set to create my scene in the globe. To create the glassy effect of the globe, I used crystal transparent embossing powder to triple emboss. Some ribbon, some star embossed and patterned paper and a star tag and the card was complete. Hope you like it! xxx Pin It Now!
