You Make My Heart Flutter!

This week I have been working on my submission for the CRAFT Colour Combo challenge.

I found this colour scheme quite a challenge as it is not a pallet I would usually use - which makes it all the more fun!

Here is the card I submitted:

I used the carriage silhouette stamp from Clarity

 mounted onto a Spellbinders Labels Fourteen die cut

and layered onto two Heart Squares dies set at an angle:

I used the Adagio embossing folder for the background:

The sentiment is from the Creative Expressions Thoughtful Sentiments stamp set:

and has been die cut using Fancy Tags Two 

I cut some of the flourishes off the tag to fit it onto the card.
The card is embellished using Spellbinders Foliage

and Rose Creations

When matting and layering the card, I rolled back the cerise layer to reveal the orange colour on the reverse. I glued the rolled paper into place using Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue - although you do need to hold it in place for a minute or two to ensure that the rolls don't unfold!

The corners of the card are decorated with gems

And not a ribbon in sight!!

French birthday wishes

I made this card for my brother-in-law who has just moved to France:

I had great fun playing with the Spellbinders dies on this one - moving them around and layering them up until I was happy with the layout - using Labels Twenty :

The Paris scene was made using two Clarity Stamps - Victorian Miniatures Set

and the small Eiffel Tower - 

The scene was very quick and easy to do - I used a small circle to mask a "sun" and a tiny bit of Black Soot Distress Ink to ground the Tower and the Victorian Gentleman.

The sentiment is one of my favourite Penny Black stamps - it is so versatile!

I inked around the edge with a little Tea Dye Distress Ink to age it.

The background was embossed with the Creative Expressions Time embossing folder:

To embellish the card, I used the Creative Expressions Vintage Ribbon - Black  and Amber Brown:

and the crystal hat pins:

The final touch, was to add some faux pearls around the edges using the shimmer pearlised black glue:

Elizabeth Silhouette

Hi -
I needed to make an elegant card for a an elegant lady - and this stamp from Clarity Stamp could not be more elegant!

This is Elizabeth 

- and she is a beautiful silhouette stamp. I stamped her in black ink and cut her out.

Using some silicon glue to give her some dimension, I matted and layered her up on patterned paper using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Twenty and Fourteen which give a lovely frame.

I inked around the edges of the frames to add dimension.

I used the American Seam Binding ribbon

and dyed it yellow using the Mustard Seed Distress Ink:

I rubbed the ink pad onto my craft sheet, spritzed with water and dabbed the ribbon into the ink on the mat. A quick blast with the heat gun and it was ready to go.

I attached a strip of left over ribbon to a length sticky tape, leaving some tape sticking out the bottom. Holding onto the tape, I rolled the ribbon up to create a ribbon rose. I attach it to the card with two of the Crimson Cloud handmade black paper roses:

I used two of the Bird Flourishes Spellbinder dies to create the swirls behind the flowers:

To finish the card I decorated with some of my own buttons and pins.

Autumn Sunset

I made this card for the October edition of Craft Stamper which is on sale now. The theme was Autumn.
It was hot and sunny when I made this card, but now I can feel the Autumn in the air!
One of my favourite stamps is the Clarity Stamp Birch Trees, which looks beautiful if you repeat stamp it to create a forest effect. In order to brayer the background sunset without turning the Birch trees orange, I coloured the trunks using my clear Versamark pen, then heat embossed them using clear embossing powder. This creates a resist which you can brayer over. The doodled line around the edge of the image creates an effective frame.

The amazing Barbara Grey was on Create and Craft for three hours yesterday - what a treat!
